Dr Prashant, surgeon by profession, always felt satisfied and happy with his work and family but he was not happy with his external appearance. Premature loss of his hairs imparted him a look of senior doctor and he was not happy with his bald look. He also wanted to enjoy his younger look.

However few years back, he was enjoying his younger look as his head was full of hairs. According to him, within couple of years he lost all his hairs from front and center of head. Now he again wants to regain his previous look.

He tried lot of medical treatments from various renowned clinics but all in vein. He also tried hair bonding for few months but he felt it very difficult to continue. Now he wants a permanent solution for it.

After massive search on internet he gained knowledge about the hair transplant procedure. He saw multiple videos of procedure on YouTube. He also enquired with multiple cosmetic surgery clinics but, being a surgeon he was scared to undergo hair transplantation surgery by a person or hair transplant surgeon who is not known to him. 

One day he came in contact with Dr Sumit of his hospital who is also a surgeon. Dr Sumit also had the problem of hair loss at early age. He was operated for hair transplantation at South Delhi Cosmetic Clinic. Dr Sumit encouraged him and cleared all his queries. He saw Dr Sumits’s results after hair transplant and it helped him taking decision for his hair surgery. He decided to first consult with Dr S.K.Chawla and discuss about his problem.

First Consultation

On first consultation he discussed about his problem, his expectation with surgery, different methods, their side effects and expected results. When he was asked, why he wants to go for hair transplant, his answer was” I am fed up hiding his bald area and wants permanent treatment for his bald look. His wife also encouraged him to go for this hair transplantation surgery.

On examination of his head he was having very large bald area and it included front center and crown region. He was having plenty of good quality donor hairs on back of head. He was told about that his bald area is very big which cannot be covered in one session. It will require at least two sessions to cover all his bald head.

He was explained that first front part will be covered by hair graft later on in second session back of head will be covered by transplanted hairs.

Being a surgeon he was able to understand easily and after getting all his answers he became ready to undergo surgery of hair transplant. He was prescribed few blood test. His blood tests were normal and his hair transplant surgery was fixed on a particular day.

Day of Surgery

On the day of hair transplant his back of head was shaved and he was advised to lie with his head down. Back of head was made completely numb by injecting a medicine. Once his back of head was painless we started harvesting hair grafts. Initially he was very anxious but after some time when he found procedure painless he became comfortable.

Hair graft was harvested by FUE method. Hair grafts were taken out by Robotic method. In his method we use robotic machine to harvest grafts. In one session we harvested 3000 follicular grafts from the back of Dr prashant head. These grafts have approximately 5500 hair. These hair grafts were kept in a special solution which not only prevent them getting dry and also nourish them. 

After harvesting grafts, he was kept in supine position with face up and injection was given to make his front head numb then holes were made with needles to insert the graft. After the slits were made, we started inserting graft from front of head toward back and a large part of bald area was covered.

After completion of surgery, operated area of head was cleaned and small dressing was applied. Dr prashant were given antibiotics and analgesics and anti inflammatory medicines for 5 days.

Day -4 After Surgery

He was called for review on 4th day of surgery. After surgery Dr Prashant had very minimal pain and it was under control with analgesics.  After 48 hours he developed swelling around eyes and on forehead which disappeared in two days. Donor area of back of head heals within 7-10 days and you will not notice any scar or bald area.

All dressings were removed and cleaning of back and front of head was done. No further dressing was applied and his head was kept open. He was advised for shampooing his head for 10 days from next day onward. All his medicines were stopped after five days and he was advised to apply antibiotic ointment for one week once in a day. After two weeks he was given hair growth promoting medicines. These medicines are given for 6 months after surgery.

Initially he complained about the loss of transplanted hairs. Usually transplanted roots persist below the skin but the hairs are shed and you may notice fall of transplanted hairs. As roots are there they produce new hairs and these hairs grow and you will notice hair growth usually after two to three months. These hairs keep growing and increase in numbers. You get final results after 8-10 months and enjoys your new looks.

Transplanted hairs persist for many years and they keep growing like natural hairs.
